If you have a toothache, it is always wise to come in to see our dentist, Dr. Steven R. Feigelson as soon as possible. At our dental practice, Steven R. Feigelson, DDS we offer emergency appointment for patients who have tooth pain and may need root canal treatment or Elwood teeth extractions.
At our dental practice, patients are able to receive root canal treatments to save the life of the tooth when this is possible. However, sometimes a tooth cannot be saved. When a patient has a toothache, our dentist will determine the exact cause of the tooth pain. If there is a chance that the tooth can be saved with a root canal treatment, our dentist will be able to perform this tooth-saving procedure. However, there are times when the best way to treat a toothache is with Elwood teeth extractions. If our dentist sees that the tooth cannot be saved by a root canal procedure, or that the tooth should be extracted for another reason, our dentist can perform a tooth extraction using local anesthesia. Wisdom teeth are the cause much tooth pain. This is because wisdom teeth are actually a third set of molars, and the human mouth is really only meant to accommodate two sets. If your wisdom teeth become a source of tooth pain or infection, it will be recommended that they are extracted; wisdom teeth are not replaced with dental implants or other teeth replacements, as this is not necessary. If our patient has a compromised immune system, it may also be recommended that the tooth is extracted as the fastest resolution to tooth infection. Sometimes, patients will need to have teeth extracted when they are having orthodontic work performed. Today, many people are choosing to have interceptive orthodontic care performed for their child at an early age; this usually reduces the number of teeth needed to be extracted when a child eventually gets braces.
