Elwood Teeth Extractions

When you have a toothache, Dr. Feigelson will make every attempt to treat you and save the tooth. Our Elwood teeth extractions are done only when it is no longer possible or practical to rescue the tooth. However, thanks to the skills and experience of our dentist, and the help of advanced tools, you won’t have to be nervous about having your tooth removed. It can be done nowadays with a minimum or discomfort, or even none at all.

The reason for needing our Elwood teeth extractions include a tooth that has been damaged by infection, one that is cracked, or that has been subject to decay beyond the point where it can be effectively restored. An infected tooth can often be addressed successfully with root canal therapy. Ad cracked tooth or a decayed one can be fitted with a crown in many instances. The reality, though, is that there are times when there is simply no other option left than to resort to our Elwood teeth extractions. Before beginning the procedure, our dentist will numb you with local anesthesia so that you will feel comfortable. That will be enough for most people, but we do offer sedation dentistry if you have anxiety about having a tooth taken out. The tooth will be extracted, possibly in more than one piece. Stitches may be required afterward, and gauze will be offered to stem any bleeding. You will be given a full set of instructions to follow for the first 24 hours. Among the recommendations are that you stick to a soft diet, apply an ice pack to the area, and rinse frequently with warm salt water.

Ask Dr. Feigelson about replacement options for the tooth, including a dental implant. What is most important, though, is to deal with your toothache in a timely manner and in the way that is most beneficial for you. Don’t hesitate to call us when you are suffering with tooth pain of any degree.
